Transport car from one location to another with a professional transport car company requires some preparation on your part to ensure both ease and safety as your car is moved from one point to another.

1. Clean your vehicle.
Before you drop your car or other vehicle off with the shipper, make sure you clean it thoroughly. A clean car makes it that much easier to notice dents, scratches or stains during the pre-transport inspection you will go through with a rep from your transport car company. Take plants and hazardous materials out of your automobile, as well as personal items.

2. Charge your battery.
A full battery which is securely mounted in your car should be ensured as part of preparing your car for transport. This will allow your transport car company to start your car without problems.

3. Check for fluid leaks.
If your car engine has leaks in your oil, transmission, or other fluid areas, it can impact your car negatively during transport. Make sure that all the obvious fluid leaks have been taken care of before you drop your car off or have it picked up.

4. Disable your car alarm.
You may have to disconnect your car alarm if it does not have a reliable disabling device; having your car alarm triggered during transport is not only extremely annoying, but it may result in higher charges and issues with your transport car company later on, not to mention a dead battery.

5. Take off any non-permanent attachments to your car.
This includes racks for transporting bikes, luggage, skis, guns, or other equipment. This equipment can get in the way of your vehicle’s transport and can also result in added weight (which will increase your transport costs and may cause your original quote to be invalidated). Your antennae, rear spoilers, grill covers, exterior spare tires, and all car covers are included in “non-permanent attachments,” so make sure to take those off too! This also includes any CD players, radios or stereos, car phones, garage door openers (that aren’t built in), and an EZ Pass, if you have one.

6. Change the oil, coolant, and other fluids in your vehicle.
If your car is being transported to another climate, you may want to prepare it for its destination by adding climate-appropriate fluids to the above parts of your car. This enables your car to be ready to drive after its transport.

7. Drive your car until it holds a minimum amount of gas.
A quarter tank of gas will allow your transport car company to move your car onto their transport truck at its pickup point and then off again. Having more gas in your tank will mean the weight of your car is higher, which can increase the cost of transport car. Gas can also create a hazard for an car during the transport process.

8. Provide your transport car company with a complete set of keys to your car.
The driver will require access to your ignition, glove box, and car trunk. Make sure that you leave all these keys with your transporter to avoid their having difficulties should these situations arise.
